Benefits of doing service WITH your children♡

One thing we have noticed is that even our young kids can feel the happiness that service brings! There is a skip in their step after they have helped someone else’s day go better. They are joyful and even kinder toward each other. Each act of service has made them want to do it again!

Service can be small:

-Look for doors to hold.

-Smile and wave at the elderly.

-Give a compliment or say what you appreciate about somebody.

-Look for kids who aren’t being included and include them.

-Find little moments of service with your siblings and others.

I’ve found that when I verbally recognize the act of service, it’s likely to happen more often. Such as, “I noticed you did that for ___. That was so kind of you, thank you!”

Studies show that service can even improve kids’ leadership skills, helps them be better citizens, combats depression, and can increases self confidence.

We feel more bonded as a family after serving together.
